Traits are intangible qualities of a player that set them apart from those who do not possess them. They are referred to in-game with a hashtag. There are several types of trait:

Name traits are an indicator or where their nickname came from: those with animal nicknames are #spirited, those named after jobs are designated as #roleplayer, those named after personality quirks are #individual, for on-field styles it’s #idiosyncratic, or if after a particular action they are #active. Others named with pop culture references are #popular, after objects are #solid, or for food it’s #hungry, or if it’s just a name then he’s a #character. Some players have two or more of these.

Intrinsic traits can refer to the player’s home, upbringing, ethnicity, hairstyle, facial features or membership of a social group. #deadly denotes an Aboriginal player, #boyo is for those with an Irish background, and #journeyman to players with experience at a previous club. #moustachioed, #beardo and #chromedome speak for themselves.

Each player also has a Club trait, referring to words of the theme song they like to sing after a win. These are, in club alphabetical order: #determined, #one-for-all, #famous, #know-how, #striving, #hard-hitter, #ambitious, #never-say-die, #sound, #grinner, #emblematic, #shinboner, #traditional, #furious, #marcher, #cheery, #well-bred, and #high-flier.

Finally, and most importantly, there are traits which apply in matches: Restriction which affect eligibility for teamsheets, Eligibility which apply skills to contests, and the highly powerful Modifier traits which change contest outcomes.
