Series

In the world of Mr Football, state-level leagues were disbanded as being too centralised and run by bosses who didn’t have grass roots footy at heart. Fans still crave elite competition nonetheless, and clubs sometimes come together temporarily to play various kinds of series.

You may enter your best team into a series event, but be warned: these tournaments are handicapped! Random happenings can crop up pre- or mid-game that can assist the lower-value side and/or penalise the higher-value side. You must name not only your 22 players but also four substitutes, as the latter may have to come into the team as late replacements. You can also nominate a Legend card to help your team as a non-playing assistant coach if you own one. Each Legend card has a different bonus effect before or during the game.

Lightning premierships are knockout series where you have to win to keep playing long enough to reach a final, whereas Carnival events are the round-robin format where the winner is determined by points on a ladder. There are also Versus series with restrictions on selection. Those three series involve full teams of 22, but there is also a 6v6 mini-series where forward, backs and midfielders compete against their opposing lines.
