Lightning

The lightning premiership has a storied history in Australian rules football, and in Mr Football it has evolved into a pick up final-style knockout series with eight entrants in four quarter finals, two preliminary finals and the grand final.

Lightning premierships are run automatically at set times over the course of an hour, unless both coaches are present in the match centre and approve them being run earlier. Your teams are locked out of entering more than one premiership at a time. You do not face any opponent more than once per day. As a knockout, if you lose a final you do not progress past that match and your team is freed up to enter another premiership.

Event points are awarded for wins, but bonus points can also come from beating a higher-ranked team or meeting certain targets during the match. Getting bundled out in the quarter final stage loses you event points, which means that even though entry to a premiership is free you can’t just keep piling up points by entering again and again with a poor team.
