Each player comes from a particular region, state or foreign country, which can affect their eligibility for certain matches.
The regions in Mr Football are Vic Academy, Vic Metro, Vic Country, SA/WA, and Allies. These six regions have roughly the same amount of players in each, corresponding to the number of juniors who come through the systems in the real sport. Vic Country is comprised of areas outside the city of Melbourne, including Geelong. Vic Metro covers all of metropolitan Melbourne except for an inner eastern zone centred on Oakleigh and Sandringham, which is zoned for Vic Academy to represent the growing influence of the Australian Public School system on footy recruitment.
For the purposes of state of origin, all three of the Vic teams are in Victoria while the South Australia and Western Australia regions are sometimes combined into a SA/WA team in Origin, and the Allies region is comprised of New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, Northern Territory, Tasmania and International.
These designations are mainly used in the Origin mode.
