In most role-playing games, heroes are eternal and last in your possession for as long as the game runs, even if they die in battles multiple times per day. Mr Football is a sports simulation as well as a card collection game, however, where the players change in skill and strength from year to year according to age and experience, and eventually retire or are delisted. You will begin your journey as a coach with a set of player cards, but towards the end of each year the season ends as well.
Some time in the off season, the game will delete all of the following: normal player cards, equipment, Ladder rank, Origin progress, packs, credits, fame and coins.
You will be left with: rubies, Legend cards, tokens, Grade progress, trophies, honours and coach accreditation level.
The point of each season is to upgrade your better players to Legend status, and to add to your coach accreditation so that you start with a larger salary cap for your staff in the new year. This helps you get a head start on the competition in the next season, and elevates your Faction to compete at the elite levels.
