You are in charge of an Australian rules football club which is based in a real town or city in Australia, battling other coaches to become the best. You must choose your home town or suburb from a list of real Australian place names using post codes, team colours and mascot.
Mr Football is a game for mobile devices but its design is of a board game. Specifically, it uses simulated dice rolls and raffles to resolve many of its game functions. Matches are exclusively resolved using these two methods, rolling four six-sided dice or choosing a ticket from a hat. Technically these methods use random seeds, but we all know it’s really the Footy Gods.
Players are represented as cards to be collected from packs, and can also be upgraded through gaining experience and using equipment as in a traditional role-playing game. The game uses a gacha system for opening card packs, but these cards are only playable for single seasons and only survive beyond the year if they are upgraded to Legend status for use in Faction play
Mr Football is the product of a number of influences from previous games over many genres, dating back to the 1980s.
